Hi All,
One of the best questions we face today is, “Should companies like Apple be considered great for minimizing their US tax burden?” While legally, this can be done and many shareholders believe it is a good thing, many feel companies have a debt to society and this is a way of avoiding that debt. Before World War II, transportation costs often made global trade more costly, and manufacturing occurred in places that minimized these costs or close to the sales point. Since then, we have seen steady declines in shipping costs which have increased global trade and made situations like those at Apple possible.
Should laws be passed that reflect morality, or should people, including investors and corporate management be reflective of the values expressed in society? What should a Christian leader do? Is Apple’s approach great or merely profitable?
