The Knowledge Journal has two parts in each unit. In the first part you will respond to a reflection question. In the second part you will watch a short video on different assessment strategies and answer questions about which type of assessment is being demonstrated.

Unit 4 Questions:

  1. Discuss the importance of using tests to improve learning and instruction and not just to assign grades.
  2. Watch the following 13-minute video on creating multiple-choice questions. While watching the video, pay particular attention to how to create the distractors.

After watching the video, create one really good multiple-choice item that you could use as a diagnostic item to include in your Journal. In a diagnostic question, your distractors should reflect mistakes that a student might make. That will let you know what mistake they made if they get the answer incorrect.
