Describe what a high quality hospital, or hospital system, looks like and explain why.

High-quality health care is care that is effective, safe, patient-centered, timely, efficient, equitable, and delivered by professionals who are respectful, communicate clearly, and involve patients in decision-making. Such medical facilities that hold these standards high are Magnet Hospitals. These hospitals attract and retain talent, improve patient care, safety, and satisfaction, provide advanced nursing standards and practice, and fosters a collaborative culture that includes everyone in the patient care plan (ANCC, n.d.).

Identify three of the most important quality measures for hospitals, and explain why these are the most important.

In my personal opinion, the three quality of measures that are most important are:

Patient Safety Measures – is a healthcare discipline put in place to prevent and reduce risk, errors, and harm that can occur to patients during provisions of care. Patient safety is a fundamental part to delivering quality essential health care (WHO, 2019).

Equity Measures – health equity means the achievement of the highest level of health for all people, where everyone has a fair and just opportunity to attain their optimal health regardless of race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, geography, preferred language, or other factors that affect access to care and health outcomes (CMS, n.d.). By offering equitable health care leads to more efficient healthcare systems overall, as a healthier population requires less medical care. That means fewer doctor’s visits, less healthcare spending per patient, and better health outcomes.

Core Quality Measures – are national standards of care and treatment processes that are proven to reduce complications and lead to a better patient outcomes. Core measures show how often hospitals provide recommended treatment for certain medical conditions.

Silvia

Hello Class,

Below are my week four discussion points alongside referenced citations on quality hospital system topics. I look forward to reading your dialogue submissions as well as replying.

  • Describe what a high-quality hospital or hospital system looks like and explain why.

The direction that best exemplifies the continued implementation and valued practices of a quality healthcare system is not only the time and initial preparation in facilitating a quality healthcare system itself but also keeping costs affordable while implementing quality services to all those with a vested interest (Bindra, 2018).

  • Identify three of the most important quality measures for hospitals, and explain why these are the most important.

Quality improvement standards for health and wellness facilities are attributed to an organized and well-run daily collaboration of customary functions. In addition, a hospital will entrust heavily on the continued implementation of performance modification approaches and the acknowledged improvement of identified ineffective practices that surface when evaluated (Bindra, 2018) However, some valuable quality benchmarks in ensuring a consistently successful and essential in its operations are the incorporated backbone of its human resource department and applications of analysis (Bindra, 2018).

I believe the fundamental capstones of leading quality measures begin with approved Joint Commission credential standards, the incorporation of the usefulness of combined adult-age and pediatric patient hospital surveys, and the accountability measurement of healthcare personnel and examined the practice of care (AHRQ, 2015).

Advantages in hospitals and other healthcare installations obtaining a credentialed seal of approval is valuable not only as a recognized accreditation from The Joint Commission but also incorporates a degree in excellent training strategies (Quality Check, 2022). Secondly, the importance of consumer-based assessments of both adult experiences within a hospital setting (AHRQ, 2014) and the equal responsibility of voicing concerns for minors through similar based surveys (AHRQ, 2014) creates the opportunity to measure and statistically analyze several combined measures alongside personal experience and patient considerations. Additionally, the analysis of healthcare personnel and several clinical operations may be partnered through helpful organizations through the aid of volunteered reporting services to maintain notable progress in improvement development. Furthermore, such organizations as The Leapfrog Group would maintain open communication of their incorporated hospital analysis and not be misinterpreted throughout the measurement process (The Leapfrog Group, 2000).

Thank you for engaging with my response.

Have a great extended Veteran’s Day weekend!
