Culturally Relevant, Developmentally Appropriate Early Learning Activity
As discussed in Chapter 3, the concept of culturally relevant, anti-bias instruction includes planning activities that are relevant to the children and families in your early learning settings. According to the Teaching for Change web page on Anti-Bias Education (Links to an external site.),
Anti-bias curriculum is an approach to early childhood education that sets forth values-based principles and methodology in support of respecting and embracing differences and acting against bias and unfairness. Anti-bias teaching requires critical thinking and problem solving by both children and adults. The overarching goal is creating a climate of positive self and group identity development, through which every child will achieve her or his fullest potential (para.1).
Now, you must build upon the knowledge you have gained in the discussion forums this week to develop culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate early learning activities to support learning, growth, and development.
