Midterm Paper (50 points)

Please respond to the following prompt in a 6-8 page paper in  APA/MLA format:

What literacies are required to “read” the world in the 21st Century and beyond? What does it mean to be literate now? How has that definition changed in your view? What are the limits of those definitions? What have you learned about literacy that helps you imagine what new ways of reading the world are required of our time? What kinds of literacies do you imagine will be needed to navigate the future? Draw on fictional examples, your experience in the world,  and the academic literature to support your claims.

You might consider literacy and its relationship to some of the following:

-ideology and knowledge

-literacy and politics

-literacy and ways of looking

-empathy and understanding of others

-digital and media literacies

-cross-cultural, racial, literacies

-justice frameworks

-identity

-teaching and learning

-biopolitics and necropolitics

You should include discussion of at least 6 relevant course readings.
