Literature Review

Literature Review on Capstone Project Guidelines
Please follow the guidelines and assignment rubric
• A literature review is not an annotated bibliography in which you briefly
summarize each article you have reviewed.
• While a summary of what you have read is contained within the literature
review, it goes well beyond merely summarizing professional literature.
• The literature review focuses on a specific topic of interest and includes your
critical analysis of the relationship among different works and relating this
research to your work. In this case your work will be your capstone project.
• The review of the literature contains a review of the scientific evidence that
supports your project. The section should be introduced with a short
statement of the aim of the project (1 or 2 sentences). There is no limit to the
number of articles you include in this review but those included should be
the most relevant and current evidence on your topic. You have articles from
the N2313: Introduction to Professional Nursing Course and/or N2416
Dimensions of Holistic Nursing Course.
• Literature reviews should be succinct and include both description and
critique.
• The literature review should conclude with a paragraph that includes a
summation of the strengths and limitations of the available literature and
leads into the next section of your paper. (a minimum 5-6 pages).
• The literature review may be written as a stand-alone paper or to provide a
theoretical framework and rationale for a research study (such as a thesis or
dissertation).
• Your literature review will be written as a standalone paper.
• Include your literature review table as an appendix at the end of the project
but refer to it here.
• Literature that is published after you completed your proposal should be
included in the final paper.
• Below is a website that has an example of a literature review. You may have
