Activity 3: Training Application Apply the relevant material from the textbook, and from the lecture presentations. Make clear and specific connections with that material as you address the questions. Cite the relevant resources in your answers. Applying Your Training Expertise • Specify the question number for each of your answers. • Follow the format requirements (see Announcement on D2L homepage). • Submit your answers to the D2L Dropbox. Check D2L for the deadline. Before you start this assignment, be sure to read the chapter and review the lecture material. Your answers should integrate the relevant course material from those sources (not just be vague general opinions), especially for 2a, 2d, and 3-6. 1. What experiences have you had with training? What training methods were used?

2. Pick one significant training example (yours, or from someone you interviewed) and

answer the following:

(a) How did the objectives affect the methods used (or if they didn’t, how should they have affected the methods used)?

(b) Did you enjoy the training…why or why not? (c) Was there any evaluation of training effectiveness (and if so, what was it)? (d) What type of evaluation would you recommend for that training, and why? 3. Briefly describe Kirkpatrick’s original four major types criteria for training success,

and identify the advantages and disadvantages of each.

4. Which types of criteria should organizations emphasize (and why)?

5. In reality, which types of criteria are most commonly used, and why? 6. Discuss the impact of technology and human factors on training.
