Discourse Community Draft #144 unread replies.44 replies.
Purpose of the Assignment: To practice drafting a discourse community analysis paper and get feedback on an early stage draft. To practice giving feedback to peers. To learn how to self-evaluate writing in a formative manner.
Intended Audience: Classmates.
Assignment Description: Post a first-page draft of your discourse community paper in here by the end of the day. The draft can be at least one paragraph. Make sure your draft is not an introduction. An introduction to the paper can be completed at the end of the drafting process when we know what we want to introduce. Instead, try to write a paragraph about one of the features of your community, such as shared goals, mechanisms of intercommunication, expert members, or specialized lexis. The goal is to get writing and get some ideas on paper. It’s OK for it to be messy at this point. Do your best to be clear so that your peers can give you the best possible advice to advance your paper.
