Analyze the data from the Bar Graph (from the provided website below) based on Mortality
Rates of those impacted by the Flu and COVID-19.
MPR News
1. Analysis – Analyze the Bar Graph that shows Mortality Rates of those impacted by the
common Flu (USA) and COVID-19 (China). Provide one Observation (Results) and one
Inference (Discussions/Conclusions); in other words what does the data mean?
2. Understanding – Describe the differences between an Outbreak, Epidemic, and
Pandemic.
3. Knowledge – Define transmission of disease.
4. Comprehension – Describe the different ways a disease can be transmitted? What
impact do we have as humans that can support the control of transmission?
5. Application – What tactics, skills and/or techniques will you implement going forward to
help control the transmission of microbes in your daily life?
6. Interdisciplinary Connections- How does epidemiology and public health work
together and/or apart from one another in disease control?
7. Synthesis – This is the fun part- be creative as you want – and synthesize something new
and novel that will slow down transmission of a specific microbe. By that I mean,
develop or design a product that will slow down the transmission of sexually transmitted
diseases. A prime example is when the condom was created to slow down transmission.
