Diversity Self-Reflection Paper
Promoting diversity in afterschool programs is an essential key in program sustainability and overall program objectivity. As a part of this class, you will write a 2-4-page essay reflecting on diversity. Each question listed below addresses important aspects of diversity.

1.) Do you make an effort to learn more about diverse groups of which you are not a part of? If so, how do you do this? If not, would you consider doing this? Which diverse groups?
2.) When you were growing up, did you interact with diverse groups? What was the result or impact?
3.) What has the diversity mix been (how have diverse groups been represented) in organizations where you have worked? Where you have lived and now live? Where you grew up?
4.) In what specific ways has diversity shaped your leadership/teaching/counseling/advising/management style?
5.) What specific things do you do to positively influence those you supervise or work with on the benefits of diversity?
6.) What is your approach to enhancing your understanding of different cultures? In other words, how do you expand your own learning with regard to diversity?
7.) Please provide an example of a situation when you had to exercise your diversity skills to help resolve a conflict between two diverse colleagues or subordinates. Please outline the situation, the actions you took and what resulted.

9.) What do you see as the most challenging aspect of working in a diverse
environment? What steps have you taken to meet this challenge?
