Introduction: For this assignment, you will critically analyze a speech by reorganizing and summarizing the speech following the pattern provided below. This is the same speech pattern we follow for all our speeches in this class.

1. Watch this speech and complete the assignment https://www.ted.com/talks/stanley_mcchrystal_listen_learn_then_lead/transcript?language=en

2. Identify the different parts of the speech, such as

a. General and specific purpose

b. Introduction

c. Three main points

d. Conclusion

3. Summarize and reorganize the speech using your own words and expressions.

Please do not transcribe the speech verbatim. You can quote a couple of sentences/statements from the speech, but the major portion of the speech should be written in your own words. Please cite whenever you have directly quoted from the speech and use “…” to indicate quotations.

In addition to summarizing and reorganizing the speech using the speech pattern, critically reflect on how you will incorporate the lessons the speaker provided in your personal life. What do you think you are doing correct and what do you think needs to change, if any? Do not merely say, ‘I need to improve communication, I need to be more positive’, but provide tangible and concrete ways of improvements and how you will work towards translating them in your life.
