Answer the following questions from the facts presented analytically and in your own words.

Facts presented:

  • Iran’s nuclear ambitions and the plan to try and bring back the JCPOA
  • Hamas, backed by Iran, carried out brutal attacks on Israel.
  • The United States has also frozen the $6 billion from a prisoner exchange deal with Iran, which was only meant for approved purchases such as food and medical supplies.
  • The Biden administration has increased its military presence in the region to discourage Hamas from initiating violence against Israel.
  • If Iran and Hamas do not back down, the US and its allies should boycott Iran’s oil exports as it is their primary source of income.

Answer Questions analytically:

1. Given your plan in the Week Seven simulation (Iran’s nuclear ambitions were the topic), what tactics are most appropriate for achieving these various goals? Why? (Goals from the simulation: curbing Iran’s nuclear ambitions, eliminating Iran’s sponsorship of terrorism in the region, including the recent Hamas attack on Israel, freezing $6 billion for support of Israel’s attack, and revisiting and updating the JCPOA or creating a new agreement once the situation in Isreal stabilizes)

2. Given the current political climate, what are some of the obstacles to achieving the goals of the plan? Politics? Economics?

3. From your experience in the simulation and the Rosati article, how can stress and personality impact policymaking? Give a few examples of presidents from the Rosati article (The Power of Human Cognition). Finish your last answer with examples of how a personality affects policymaking.
