ASSIGNMENT:  To write a summary of Chapter 12, Digital Media & Communication, p-307-320, of our textbook Communication for Business Professionals.

STYLE:  The essay must be 2 pages long; typed in 12 point font; double spaced with standard margins on both sides and top to bottom; and include page numbers.

Attach a cover sheet that includes the title, your name, ID Number, course name and number, and the date.  Also add a references page at the end of your essay.

Do not use point form in the essay and too many unnecessary headings – one heading at the top of the paper is acceptable.

Details:

A. You must cite one outside source in the essay that relates to this topic and it must come from the CBU library.   This means you have to read a separate article to complete this assignment. The citation can either support or contrast the chapter content but be sure to also provide your own thoughts. This is a short essay so please use no more than two outside sources.  Again, only one is required.

B. This is to be your writing!  Be sure to cite using APA format which means you source inside the body of your paper and the included sources must match your references page.  e.g. (Thill, 2019) in the body of your paper/essay.  Use this format for citations you take from the chapter and the other required source.

C. Do not include more than 4 quotes/citations directly from the assigned chapter.  If you do quote the reading you must include the reading on your reference page.

This is an outline for you to follow for this style of essay:

1.    In a chapter review, your essay is critiquing the work done by the author(s).  Tell me if you think this body of work would be helpful, as example to you for further academic study or others studying business communication.

2.    You could include a brief introduction to summarize the topic of the chapter and tell me how it relates to this course.  Also state the authors’ primary point/conclusions in the chapter.

3.    Your Personal Evaluation:  What was most interesting?  What did you learn? Was the chapter well written?  What did the chapter not cover and perhaps should have included?  Is it relevant in today’s world – etc.  You may have your own ideas!

4.    Conclusion:  Did the authors accomplish their goal?  Would you recommend this Chapter?
