American History is filled with people who, for the good or the bad, have left their mark on us forever. For this OPTIONAL extra credit, I want you to tell me about the one person from the modern part of American History that, given the chance, you would most like to meet.

Restrictions-

They had to have lived and/or had their impact on our story after 1865.

Take this seriously; it can’t be “my great grandfather” unless he was truly important to

American History.

Your chosen person must be a real person. You can’t say that you’d like to meet Tom Sawyer because there is no proof that someone like him actually existed.

Pick someone who lived in North America. This isn’t a World History class.

Guidelines-

Tell me about your person’s history; what makes them so important?

What impact did they have (good, bad, or in between) that still makes us talk about them

to this very day?

Why do you want to meet them? What do you find most interesting about them? What

kind of long-lasting impact have their actions had?

Format-

• Please type your paper in 12 point Times New Roman font, double spaced. Include your name and class info in a header at the top left.

To adequately complete this assignment, your paper needs to be at least two (2) full pages in length. Although I’m sure you’ll need to look up some info to answer the points listed above, since this is extra credit, there is no need to include the in-text citations or works cited page that you have in your regular research paper choices. However, DO NOT COPY AND PASTE!!! Put any info you need to use into your own words.

This assignment is worth a maximum of twenty (20) extra credit points- the better you do, the more points you’ll receive.
