Hi Class,
When we are talking about PMBOK, it is the ultimate guide on how and what to do during project management. Like many other guides, PMBOK guides you on completing a project and what process you must adhere to when starting a project.
No Matter what project you are doing, you can use PMBOK as a reference guide from start to finish. PMBOK creates the standard on who to start and what is needed during the project lifecycle. This information is very critical when doing a project. My final thought is that PMBOK can also be used as a template.

Class,
The PMBoK states that each project is unique so that is why it is best to tailor to the necessities of the project. Not every tool, technique, input, and output are used for every project so you must tailor to what you actually need. It also allows for the you to address the competing constraints that are required to modify and finalize the scope, schedule, cost, resources, quality, and risk of the project.

The PMBOK Guide describes what needs to be accomplished for project management. In other words, it advises businesses to do the right things. That said, not every organization is going to do those things the same way. Each company need to ask themselves, “The PMBOK Guide tells us to do the right things, but we need to ensure we are doing the things right.” By showing what is important and necessary for project management, the PMBOK Guide allows businesses to be flexible in their approach to project management. We have a saying in the Air Force: Flexibility is the key to air power.
