Instructions

Read Paideia 18, Chapter 1: \”Working language, language that works\” by Kellie Sharp-Hoskins

Write a two-paragraph (approximately 4-8 sentences per paragraph) response in which you:

Paragraph 1: In a thoughtful and developed academic paragraph, identify and summarize two concepts or ideas from Paideia 18, Chapter 1: \”Working Language, Language that Works\” that stood out, seemed important, or confused you. See the Academic Writing Handout for tips.

Paragraph 2: Reflect on the reading. Based on the ideas or concepts you identified in paragraph 1, reflect on your experiences in relating to those ideas or concepts on a personal level. For example, if you identified writing as a \”situated\” practice in paragraph 1, share a story about different situations for your writing. The goal of this paragraph is to add a personal dimension to the ideas from the reading.

To Submit

Write your two-paragraph response as a text box entry directly in Canvas as follows:

Your Name

Date

PD1

Paragraph 1

Paragraph 2

NOTE: As a best practice, you might want to compose your response on a document (such as Word or Google docs) so that it doesn\’t accidentally get deleted if your Internet goes down or if you accidentally press a wrong button. From a document, you can then copy and paste your response into the Canvas text box. If you do this, please make sure that your formatting stays in place so that your two paragraphs remain as two paragraphs (sometimes, space, indentations, and formatting elements get eliminated or reconfigured in unintentional ways when you copy and paste into Canvas).
