Thanks for including an explanation of why we are spending an entire week discussing non monetary statistics. The operations of healthcare organizations is complicated and this is another example that supports the impact. Understanding the “why” is always important. Another point from the reading that was interesting was that of non monetary liabilities. These include “obligations that cannot be met in the form of cash payments, such as warranty service on goods a company sells.” This may not be applicable in direct health care services, as there are no guarantees for assessments, interventions and treatments. In fact, patients often return to the ED for the same symptoms if they don’t improve quickly. Where might this type of example occur? What other thoughts cross your mind as you think about liabilities that are non monetary?
