Please review the following chapters and read the following appendices in your An Introduction to Group Work Practice textbook:

  • Chapter 2, “Historical and Theoretical Developments,” pages 43–65.
  • Chapter 5, “Leadership and Diversity,” pages 137–159.
  • Appendix A3, “Standards for Social Work Practice with Groups 1  Association for the Advancement of Social Work with Groups, Inc., an  International Professional Organization (AASWG),” pages 444–454.

Social workers have an ethical and moral responsibility to advocate  for oppressed and marginalized populations. Yet, this position seems to  compromise the proposed value-free neutrality. Using information gained  from your textbook readings for this unit, argue for both sides of this  debate.
