Discussion

In our text, the author describes attention as “selecting certain stimuli from among many and focusing cognitive resources on those selected” (Kellogg, 2015, p. 69). We are constantly bombarded with stimuli coming into our brains and have to select which one(s) we attend to. Why do we select certain stimuli and not others? For this discussion you will choose one:

  • Compare and contrast selective and divided attention. Share one scenario from your own life that illustrates these phenomena.
  • Compare and contrast early attention and late attention. Share one scenario from your own life that illustrates these phenomena.
